Social Two-Step Lessons
Every Week in Austin
Austin's favorite Honky-Tonk Two-Step lessons, taught every week by Double or Nothing Two-Step. Texas Monthly named it "the city's most popular provider of country-dance lessons." No partner, no experience, no excuses necessary.

Took my first beginner class this week and it was just what I was looking for. I went by myself and felt completely comfortable. I plan to keep going every week!
I went to one of their free classes around town and really enjoyed it! The instructor explained things in a simple to understand way and they covered a lot more than other classes I've been to.
Best beginner lesson I've taken for free at a bar around here. Tip generously, this is good stuff!!
I've gone from never having two stepped a few months ago to getting out there and dancing multiple times a week in no small part due to their weekly lessons.
The classes are very approachable, casual, and most importantly FUN. Come solo, bring a date or a friend and you'll surely have a good time.
Best group classes in Austin, hands-down. One of the major contributors to the revival of two-stepping among young people in town.
Not Ready for a Public Class Yet?
Our public lessons are beginner-friendly, but if you'd rather ease in somewhere smaller and more structured, book a private lesson or join a studio series - bootcamps, beginner-to-advanced two-step, and technique workshops at a South Lamar studio. Want to practice from home first? There's an online course too.
Planning a group? We also do corporate team building in Austin and bachelorette parties.
Good to Know
What is Honky-Tonk Two-Step?
Honky-Tonk Two-Step is the fast, smooth, social two-step Austin dances on a crowded honky-tonk floor, and it is what every class here teaches. Read the full guide to Honky-Tonk Two-Step.
Where are the lessons?
Our weekly public lessons are at Sagebrush on South Congress and Donn's Depot in west Austin. We are not currently teaching at Sam's Town Point.
Are the lessons good for total beginners?
Yes. Every week includes beginner lessons built for people who have never danced. No partner and no experience needed, and most people are up and dancing by the end of the first hour.
Are any of the lessons free?
Yes. The Wednesday beginner lesson at Donn's Depot is free with no cover. The Sagebrush lessons are a small cash cover at the door that also covers the live music afterward.
Do I need a partner?
No. Come on your own or bring someone. All levels, all welcome.
What is a drop-in lesson, and will I have a partner?
A drop-in is a public group class at the honky-tonk. Just show up, RSVP so we know to expect you (that is all an RSVP does, it does not hold a spot or promise a partner), pay the door cover, and jump in. We rotate partners during the lesson so everyone gets to dance, but a drop-in class cannot guarantee you a partner for the rest of the night. If you want a guaranteed partner or one-on-one time, book a private lesson.
Is there live music?
Every honky-tonk lesson is followed by live music so you can practice what you just learned. Studio classes are the exception and do not have a band after.
