What is Austin Honky-Tonk Two-Step?
Austin Honky-Tonk Two-Step is a small-space variation of the Texas Two-Step that evolved over decades on Austin's tight honky-tonk dance floors. It blends swing, two-step, blues, and Cajun rhythms into a single social dance. Dance is a language and like any language, regional dialects develop -Honky-Tonk Two-Step is Austin's own.
Vanessa Vaught was born and raised in Austin and has been shakin’ her booty to live music at Austin's best venues since she got her first fake ID. She founded Double or Nothing Two-Step in 2020 after spending years doing what any reasonable person would do - dancing 5 to 7 nights a week, 3 to 5 hours a night, on every honky-tonk dance floor in Austin.
